Where to Watch All 6 Works of Jane Austen for Free

As of May, 2020, here’s a list of where you can enjoy all adaptations of the 6 major works of Jane Austen for free! Enjoy!

1. Pride and Prejudice 1995

The GOAT adaptation. BYU offers the whole miniseries for free on their website!

2. Pride and Prejudice 1980

Although the timeless Colin Firth miniseries is my personal favorite, this miniseries is a great find because it offers another faithful to the book, full-length BBC miniseries! This series is on Amazon Prime.

3. Sense and Sensibility 1971

This is a fun take, because it feels more like a play than a typical movie! The whole series can be found on Youtube in four parts.

4. Sense and Sensibility 1981

Again, a lesser known miniseries but like most BBC adaptations, this is definitely worth the watch! It’s free on Amazon Prime.

5. Sense and Sensibility 2008

Amazon Prime comes through again! This newer BBC miniseries is great if you want a shorter miniseries, as it is only 3 episodes while the 1981 version is 7 episodes.

6. Emma 1972

With the new Emma out, this was the trickiest adaptation to find. Youtube came through again with another lesser-known BBC series.

7. Persuasion 1971

One of my favorite portrayals of Anne Elliot! YouTube delivers yet again.

8. Mansfield Park 1983

This 7 episode series found on Amazon Prime is very faithful to the book, and would be a great version to watch just after reading or rereading the novel.

9. Mansfield Park 1999

This is the only adaption on Netflix. It’s movie-length, so it’s perfect for a Friday night!

10. Northanger Abbey 1987

Another Amazon Prime find. The reviews are … mixed …

11. Northanger Abbey 2007

The much more popular Felicity Jones version! It’s available on YouTube.

12. Bonus! Love and Friendship

If you you want some alternatives to Jane’s six main novels, This Prime original is an adaptation of one of Austen’s lesser known, unfinished works. Amazon took a more comedic approach to this work.
